Born in Charneca da Caparica, it was on the streets of his home town that Rúben Vinagre took his first steps in football. At 10 years of age he joined the youth teams of FC Barreirense and soon became a target for Sporting CP who recruited him in the 2009/2010 season.
After spending a year with the Lions he played for CF "Os Belenences" for 2 years before eventually returning to the club at the request of Aurélio Pereira.
At just 16 years of age he decided to leave for AS Monaco, thus postponing his full debut in the mythical green and white jersey. A Portuguese international since the age of 15, he was part of every Portuguese youth team and was crowned European under-17 (2016) and under-19 champion (2018).
Under contract at Wolverhampton since 2017, he returns to Sporting CP after having won the English Championship and having had loan spells at Olympiacos FC where he was champion and another season with FC Famalicão where he made his debut in the Portuguese Premier division. It is now time to fulfil his dream of playing for Sporting's first team and Vinagre makes no secret about how happy he is to return to Alvalade.
