The coach reviews the win over CD Nacional
Rui Borges analysed the 1-4 win over CD Nacional in his post-match press conference, looking at the key factors in the turnaround victory.
Analysis of the game
"What unlocked the match was the team's seriousness. We remained consistent and realised that we could turn the result around. It was always a difficult game, even when we were against ten men. Last week, CD Nacional -also with ten men-, drew 1-1 with Rio Ave FC. Sometimes it doesn't make the game easier, but actually more difficult, and in this case, on top of that, they were winning 1-0. CD Nacional created danger for us with three chances: Two corners and a free kick. Otherwise, the game belonged to us, with several chances for us to score. In the first half, we lacked proactivity; we were very reactive. It was a game where we dominated from start to finish. We had a great game again."
Pedro Gonçalves' "best version"
"This was the best version of Sporting CP: 'Pote,' Trincão, Luís [Suárez], Geny, Quenda... The guys who came on did very well, like Harder, Quenda, and Vagiannidis. They maintained the momentum we were building in the second half on the right. We were able to create danger and create overloads. Giorgi [Kochorashvili] also came on and did very well, despite Morita's misfortune. It's the best version of Sporting CP I've seen. They look focused, ambitious, and we're a team, above all, who are happy when we are playing."
Hidemasa Morita's injury in the 32nd minute
"He felt a little discomfort and we didn't want to take any more risk with him. He also signaled to us immediately to make the change. We'll find out the severity of the injury and see when we can have him back."
